The 2018-19 Basketball season was a success in many regards for all of our teams. All teams finished the season with a winning record and all teams received at least a top 2 ranking in state during the regular season. The JV girls ended the season with a 8-6 record while playing a tough non-conference schedule against 3 different varsity teams. After receiving the #2 overall seed in the state tournament our girls were upset by Covenant Classical who went on to Win the JV girls state championship. Our girls were disappointed but are excited about the growth we made as a team and the opportunity they have next year to compete.
The JV Boys ended their season with a loss in the State Championship game to a very disciplined Tri-City christian. The JV boys had a very consistent season finishing the season with a 12-5 record.
The Varsity boys had the best season in school history boasting of a 24-4 record and winning the schools first ever state championship. They knocked off 2nd ranked Oak Level Baptist Academy in the Championship game by a score of 57-55. It was an exciting game that went all the way down to the wire. There was an amazing number of fans that traveled to the game in Hickory to support the Bulldogs this year!
Next basketball season will be very interesting as all of the athletes are ready to work hard in the off season to gives their teams the best chance to win a state Championship. Go Bulldogs!!
